Schola Science uses a structured editorial and production process to help each manuscript receive a fair assessment and a clear publication record. Detailed requirements and review timelines may vary between journals, so authors should also read the policies of their selected journal.
1. Manuscript submission
Authors submit their manuscript through the journal’s online submission system. The submission should include all required files, author information, declarations, ethical approvals where applicable, and any supporting data requested by the journal.
2. Initial technical check
The editorial office checks whether the submission is complete and follows the journal’s formatting and administrative requirements. This stage may include checks for:
- Missing files or author information
- Journal scope and article type
- Research ethics documentation
- Authorship and conflict-of-interest declarations
- Citation and reference completeness
- Text similarity
A similarity report may support the screening process, but it is not treated as proof of misconduct without further editorial review.
3. Editorial assessment
The editor assesses the manuscript’s relevance, academic quality, originality, research design, and suitability for the journal. Manuscripts that fall outside the journal’s scope or do not meet its basic requirements may be declined without external review.
Manuscripts that pass this assessment proceed to peer review.
4. Peer review
The editor invites reviewers with relevant subject knowledge to evaluate the manuscript. Reviewers assess the quality of the research, the strength of the analysis, the clarity of the presentation, and the validity of the conclusions.
The journal’s review model, such as single-anonymous, double-anonymous, or open peer review, is stated in its editorial policies. Reviewers must maintain confidentiality and disclose any conflict of interest.
5. Editorial decision
After considering the reviewers’ reports, the editor may issue one of the following decisions:
- Accept
- Accept with minor revisions
- Revise and resubmit
- Reject
The final decision belongs to the responsible editor. Reviewer recommendations inform that decision but do not replace editorial judgment.
6. Author revision
When revisions are requested, authors should submit a revised manuscript together with a point-by-point response explaining how each reviewer comment was addressed.
If an author disagrees with a recommendation, the response should provide a clear academic reason. The revised manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers when further evaluation is necessary.
7. Final acceptance
A manuscript is accepted only after the editor is satisfied that the academic and editorial requirements have been met. Authors receive a formal acceptance notification before the manuscript enters production.
Acceptance does not remove the journal’s right to investigate ethical or factual concerns identified before publication.
8. Copyediting and production
The accepted manuscript is prepared for publication. This stage may include:
- Language and style editing
- Reference checking
- Figure and table preparation
- Article layout and typesetting
- DOI and metadata preparation
- Author affiliation verification
- Final publication checks
Copyediting improves consistency and readability without changing the meaning of the research.
9. Author proofing
The corresponding author receives the publication proof for final checking. Authors should review names, affiliations, tables, figures, references, and typographical details carefully.
Major changes to the research are normally not accepted at this stage unless the editor approves them.
10. Publication
After final approval, the article is published on the journal website as part of an issue or through continuous publication, depending on the journal’s publication model.
The published record may include the article PDF, DOI, abstract, author information, keywords, citation details, and supplementary material.
Post-publication responsibilities
Schola Science and its journals take reasonable steps to maintain the accuracy of the scholarly record. Concerns raised after publication are reviewed according to the journal’s policies.
Where necessary, the journal may publish a correction, clarification, expression of concern, retraction, or removal notice. These actions must be documented clearly and should not be used merely to hide an earlier version of the publication.
